Lynne O'Brien

Head of Communities

Lynne 1Lynne is Head of Communities at Columba 1400. She loves her job – it is a privilege to be alongside strategic leaders and parents as they focus on their core values.  

Lynne has dedicated her career to working with and delivering change for children and young people and families.  Lynne’s route into community work was as a young person seeking change at a challenging time in her own life and community. Now with over 25 years experience in the field, she has a deep understanding of the issues affecting families and communities, with experience at both practitioner and senior management level.  

Working mainly in the Charity sector Lynne has held multiple roles, including Assistant Director for Barnardo’s Scotland, where she led and developed a large portfolio of Children’s services, from early help to specialist services.  

She has held a number of strategic roles in community planning partnerships, supporting change and positive outcomes for families. 

 

In 2018 Lynne joined the Independent Care Review leadership team, as Head of Innovation, supporting the systemic change programme, which contributed to the findings The Promise.  

 

Lynne is qualified in Community Education, Leadership and Management in Social Services, Practice teaching in Social Work and holds an MBA at Heriot Watt University (2020).
