A Head Teacher’s Story

Kirsten from Nether Currie Primary School in Edinburgh took part in our HTLA in February 2019 (Cohort 32), a month after having been appointed head teacher.

Shortly after her academy, we talked to her about her experience and the impact it had on her and her school. She explained how it helped her with her self-belief and to understand what kind of a leader she wanted to be.

We caught up with Kirsten again recently and she added:

“Almost five years on from my participation in the HTLA at Columba 1400, the impact has not lessened. I still hold dear everything I learned during my time in Skye and continue to draw on the Columban Values in every part of my work as a school leader.

“I am a passionate advocate for Columba 1400 and firmly believe that taking part in the HTLA in the early days of your leadership journey can help shape you to become an authentic leader, one who genuinely wants to invest in the school community wholeheartedly.”
