For 25 years thousands of young people from across Scotland have taken part in a Columba 1400 Young People’s Leadership Academy, stepping away from the pressures of daily life to reflect on their values, build confidence and discover the difference they can make in the world around them.
Some of these young people choose to continue their leadership journey by joining the Columban Youth Team, a group of young volunteers who help shape and strengthen our work while developing their own skills, confidence and sense of purpose. You can find out more about the Columban Youth Team here.
In this short film, members of the Columban Youth Team share, in their own words, the impact Columba 1400 has had on their lives. They reflect on the challenges they’ve overcome, the confidence they’ve gained and the lessons they’ve carried forward into their education, careers, relationships and communities.
Their stories show what can happen when young people are given the opportunity to be heard, to be valued and to discover the leader within themselves.
