This year, Columba 1400 turns 25. To celebrate a quarter-century of empowering young people across Scotland, our team is stepping up – literally.

We’ll be walking the full length of the spectacular, rugged Trotternish Ridge on the Isle of Skye: 37km of steep ascents, exposed ridgelines, and 2,417 metres of climbing. This two-day expedition is no easy feat. With wild camping, remote terrain, and no water sources en route, it’s a serious challenge even for experienced walkers.

And while some of our team are used to this kind of adventure, many are not. It’s a diverse group, bringing a shared commitment to stretch ourselves in support of something we all believe in: the power of young people.

This challenge is deeply personal. From our centre in Staffin, we look out at the Trotternish Ridge every day. It’s a constant presence. But this journey will give us a whole new respect for its scale and its beauty.

For 25 years, Columba 1400 has walked alongside young people facing tough realities – including those in our own communities – offering Values-Based Leadership Academies that help them unlock their inner strength, hope and potential. We’ve seen how powerful that can be, and we want to ensure we can keep doing it for the next generation.

We’re fundraising as we walk, and we’d love your support. Every donation – no matter how big or small – helps us keep supporting young people to find the greatness already within them.
